UEM Sunrise Berhad (“UEM Sunrise”), a leading property developer in Malaysia through its corporate responsible initiatives has successfully organised the Motivational Camp 2016 from 12 to 14 March, attended by 120 Form Four and Form Five students from its PINTAR Adopted Secondary Schools held at Tiram Indah Village, Johor Bahru. The main objective of the Motivational Camp is to inspire and influence students to have higher motivation and interest towards their studies. Through carefully tailor-made activities, the students were practically and mentally engaged on positive values, particularly in time management, teamwork, self-discipline, tolerance, patience and to stay focused on education and life goals.

Known to be one of the most anticipated programmes by the UEM Sunrise PINTAR Adopted Schools Secondary students, the annual Motivational Camp was filled with continuous mental and physical challenges that encompassed of indoor and outdoor activities.

Among the numerous indoor activities introduced this year included “Mind Re-Engineering”, “From Good to Great” and “Right Brain Exploration”. In line with paradigm shift of the Malaysia’s National Education Plan, these activities emphasised and tested the essentials of Higher Order Thinking Skills (“HOTS”).

Meanwhile on the outdoor challenges, educational and recreational activities covered were “Egg Tech”, “Strategy Game”, “Road to Success” and “Night Walk”. The group exercises stimulated the team’s creativity while keeping them mentally engaged and physically active. Through experiential learning, exposure ranged from unleashing and seizing their potentials to critical thinking.

Evelyn Wong Lye Mun and Angie Wong Lye Enn, the twins from SMK Taman Nusa Jaya, who have been participating actively in UEM Sunrise PINTAR Schools Programmes since Primary Six said, “We enjoyed every activity especially the tele-match. It reminded us of our childhood memories. It also made us understand the meaning of cooperation, sacrifices, patience and team work.”

“I am an active person and have participated in various motivational programmes previously. When I was selected to join this camp, I imagined it to be similar with other programmes that I have attended but I was wrong. It was totally different. It was very challenging and I gained valuable knowledge through its activities”, said Muhammad Azim Bin Abu Hassan 17, from SMK Gelang Patah.

“Another wonderful experience that I gained during the programme was being chosen as the ‘Penghulu’ or the leader for students as it helped in building my self-confidence and I hope that UEM Sunrise will continue this Motivational Camp for the benefits of its PINTAR Schools students”, he added.

UEM Sunrise’s Head of Corporate Communication, Nik Surina Suria Nik Abdullah said, “The UEM Sunrise PINTAR Schools annual Motivational Camp activities helped towards positive cognitive development and enhanced moral values and at the same time it boasted the students self-confidence. We established a platform for them to continue their learning process and we are very pleased to see the encouraging outcome at the end of the programme”.
