ISKARNIVAL Returns

NUSAJAYA, JOHOR, 6 December 2014 – In an effort to increase the awareness of opportunities in Nusajaya, Iskandar Malaysia for local Johoreans and the rakyat – Khazanah Nasional Berhad (“Khazanah”), UEM Sunrise Berhad (“UEM Sunrise”) and Iskandar Investment Berhad (“IIB”) have come together once again to organise ISKARNIVAL 2014 (“ISKARNIVAL”) to celebrate the continued success of Iskandar Malaysia.

This year marks the third year for Khazanah, UEM Sunrise and IIB to come together to organise the carnival for the rakyat. However, under the ISKARNIVAL brand, this is the second year the event is being held following the debut and success of Karnival Nusajaya in 2012.

ISKARNIVAL will be held at Dataran Mahkota in Kota Iskandar, Nusajaya from 6 to 7 December between 10.00 am to 7.00 pm. ISKARNIVAL aims to promote community ties with the rakyat through various platforms including commerce, career opportunities, affordable homes and recreation.

With the support of the Johor State Government and Iskandar Regional Development Authority (“IRDA”), ISKARNIVAL features fun and family-centric activities, which includes concerts with an exciting line-up of popular artistes, a career fair, a local food festival and a property exposition showcasing affordable homes in Johor.

Besides UEM Sunrise, other local property developers like I&P Group Sdn Bhd, Mah Sing Group Berhad, DRB-HICOM Berhad and Sime Darby Property Berhad will be participating in ISKARNIVAL to promote their affordably-priced developments. There will also be talks by property experts such as Faizul Ridzuan of Property Investment Guru, Ishmael Ho of Ho Chin Soon Research Sdn Bhd and Rohaniah Noor of Property Waltz on the current market trends to make everyone’s buying decisions easier.

With the expansion of economic activities in and around Iskandar Malaysia, Nusajaya continues to provide new employment opportunities to both Johoreans and the rakyat. Local job seekers will benefit tremendously from their visit to ISKARNIVAL’s Career and Education Fair with over 1,500 job vacancies.

ISKARNIVAL will host 29 companies including UEM Group Berhad, Celcom Axiata Berhad, Telekom Malaysia Berhad and Human Resource Development Fund in a career fair at Dataran Mahkota to highlight the available jobs in Iskandar Malaysia. Those who attend ISKARNIVAL are encouraged to bring along their CVs if they are looking for potential employment in Iskandar Malaysia, which offers tremendous growth opportunities. This year’s ISKARNIVAL will offer free CV drafting services complete with a photo booth to cater for first-time job seekers.

Music fans will look forward to being entertained by ISKARNIVAL’s talented line up of musicians including Bunkface, Sleeq and Azlan and the Typewriter. ISKARNIVAL ends daily with a two-hour concert and performances by some of Malaysia’s top singers such as Anuar Zain, Faizal Tahir and Liza Hanim.

A visit to Johor would not be the same without sampling signature Southern dishes like Mee Bandung, Briyani Gam and Laksa Johor at ISKARNIVAL. Celebrity chefs Dato’ Chef Fazley, Chef Syura and Chef Brian will also show off their culinary skills at cooking demonstrations throughout the two-day event.

Families with small children and adults who are young at heart can enjoy the multitude of fun games and activities that will occupy a large part of Dataran Mahkota. Games like a giant bubbles area, kiddie rides, family mini putt and a mini petting zoo are set up to entertain the crowd.

Admission to ISKARNIVAL is free as to encourage the public to participate in the fun-filled fair, complete with games for all ages. To help spread the joy, there will be shuttle buses to ferry the communities from the kampungs within Nusajaya to the carnival.

The free shuttle services will be made available at these four locations, i.e. Larkin Bus Terminal, JB Central Bus Terminal, Gelang Patah Bus Terminal and RTC Kulai. The frequency of the shuttle bus services would be at a 30-minute interval, starting from 9.30 am to Dataran Mahkota, Kota Iskandar, Nusajaya. For the return trips, the free shuttle buses will be on standby at Dataran Mahkota, Kota Iskandar, Nusajaya to the four terminals from as early as 11.00 am.

ISKARNIVAL 2014 expects to receive more than 80,000 visitors over the two-day event based on last year’s success.
