The Nusajaya Story

Located within the resource-rich state of Johor, Malaysia, and in close proximity to Singapore, Nusajaya was identified as the ideal location to build Asia’s newest regional city. With approximately 24,000 acres of development-ready land, Nusajaya was envisioned as a self-sustaining city offering a fully rounded and integrated lifestyle for business, living and leisure. It has direct access to ready infrastructure and is linked by a comprehensive network of main roads to the greater Asian continent and major international seaports. Nusajaya is within 50 minutes to Singapore Changi International Airport and 35 minutes to Senai International Airport, and has international sea connections through the Port of Puteri Harbour Ferry Terminal.

As the main landowner and master developer, UEM Land has led the creation of Nusajaya through successful residential, retail, industrial and infrastructure projects. Through the Smart+Connected Master Plan, UEM Land plans to transform Nusajaya into one of the world’s leading interconnected communities, creating a seamless experience for residents, businesses and visitors. The Company will work with its partners, including Iskandar Investment Berhad, Telekom Malaysia Berhad, Cisco Systems International BV and Centios Co. Ltd to create an urban development that uses cutting edge communications technology to connect communities in a way that will enhance economic and environmental sustainability, and quality of life.

In addition to the Smart+Connected Master Plan, Nusajaya’s developments have been planned according to the environmental principles behind the Green Nusajaya Plan and in line with the world’s best practices in Safety and Security. In January 2012, UEM Land, with its strategic partner Iskandar Investment Berhad, via its subsidiary Medini Security Services Sdn Bhd, formed a fully fledged security service company to provide enhanced security for Nusajaya. All aspects of the development of Nusajaya, both in the short term and long term, were thoroughly and strategically planned. The first signature development to be agreed was for the establishment of Johor State New Administration Centre. In the early stages, launches of residential projects were complemented by industrial land sales. Later UEM Land itself began building factories as way of bringing employment to Nusajaya.

Through the gradual development of further amenities, Nusajaya is now home to a 1,300 acre industrial park, an award-winning marina, international theme parks as well as international schools and universities. Nusajaya’s vision and achievements were internationally-recognised when it was named the winner in the Master Plan Category at the prestigious FIABCI Prix d’Excellence Awards 2012 by an international panel of real estate professionals and experts.

On completion, Nusajaya is expected to become a hub for government, tourism and leisure, education, creative, healthcare and wellness, business and industry, commerce and finance, as well as property and infrastructure. By the time it reaches maturity in 2025, Nusajaya is expected to support a population of 500,000.
