TM Collaborates with UEM Sunrise and Iskandar Investment for Provisioning of Smart Services
Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM), through its wholly-owned subsidiary, Intelsec Sdn Bhd today signed an agreement with UEM Sunrise Berhad (“UEM Sunrise”), through its wholly- owned subsidiary UEM Land Berhad and Iskandar Innovations Sdn Bhd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Iskandar Investment Berhad (“IIB”) for the establishment of a Joint Venture Company that will offer and operate smart services in Nusajaya.
This joint venture is one of the areas that have been identified in the Collaboration Agreement between TM, UEM Sunrise and IIB which was previously signed in 2012 for the development and management of the Smart and Connected Nusajaya.
The Joint Venture Company, in which TM will be the majority shareholder, will operate as a managed services company. The Company will design and build the smart city infrastructure as well as provide smart building and smart city services which will include security services, energy and facility management. The Company will also be playing a role towards nation- building by promoting a localised partnership ecosystem to encourage participation and capability development of local vendors. In addition, the Company will continuously explore opportunities to capture new development project in Nusajaya area for smart services.
The agreement today was signed by Giorgio Migliarina, Chief Technology and Innovation Officer, TM and Dr. Farid Mohamed Sani, Chief Strategy Officer, TM on behalf of TM while UEM Sunrise was represented by Azhar Othman, Chief Financial Officer and Siti Mariam Mohd Desa, Chief Marketing Officer; and IIB was represented by John Ng Yan Chuan, Executive Vice President, Strategic Marketing, IIB and Chin Su Yee, Head of Legal and Corporate Secretarial, IIB. The signing ceremony was witnessed by Tan Sri Zamzamzairani Mohd Isa, Group Chief Executive Officer, TM, Dato’ Izzaddin Idris, Executive Director, UEM Sunrise.

True to its leadership role, TM also continues to support the development of Nusajaya by providing state-of-the-art technology and services capitalising on its superior domestic network infrastructure connectivity and extensive global reach.
With the enhanced communications services and infrastructure in the area, Nusajaya is set to become a smart and connected city. The services include TM’s High Speed Broadband – UniFi and TM WiFi which enable multi-national corporations (MNCs), businesses and even the communities residing in Nusajaya to enjoy advanced connectivity, in line with TM’s aspiration to bring an enhanced and integrated digital lifestyle to Malaysians.
TM has made its HSBB service, UniFi available in Nusajaya, Iskandar Malaysia since July 2010 covering more than 2,200 premises passed. UniFi is currently available at 10 exchange areas in Johor covering close to 106,000 premises passed in Skudai, Tampoi, Gelang Patah in Nusajaya, Bandar Johor Bahru, Senai, Permas, Pelangi, Pandan, Pasir Gudang and Kulai Jaya. To date, there are over 46,000 UniFi customers in Johor.
In addition, TM had successfully brought UniFi to four (4) of the five (5) flagship zones in Iskandar Malaysia – Johor Bahru city covering JB’s New Financial District and Central Business District, as well as the Danga Bay waterfront city; Nusajaya covering Kota Iskandar, EduCity and Medini; Eastern Gate Development covering Pasir Gudang and Tanjung Langsat Port; and Senai – Skudai airport city – yet another notable achievement for the service.
