UEM Land Observes Ramadhan with ‘Bubur Lambuk’ and Raya Goodies Distributions

NUSAJAYA, Wednesday, 8 August 2012: UEM Land Holdings Berhad, the master developer of Nusajaya one of the key drivers of Iskandar Malaysia, successfully organised its inaugural 2012 Ramadhan event in collaboration with Johor Media Club by preparing and distributing Ramadhan delicacy – ‘bubur lambuk’ to the local communities. Presentations of ‘duit raya’ and Raya goodies were also made to the less fortunate at An Nur Mosque, Kg Pok, today.

The ‘bubur lambuk’ was prepared by 80 UEM Land’s volunteers together with Johor Media Club members who gathered early in the morning to help prepare the porridge under the supervision of Kg Pok’s Mosque committee members of the committees who have the expertise in preparing the ‘bubur lambuk’- which is a special local porridge. The porridge was later shared and distributed to the local communities from the surrounding areas.

Additionally, in a separate event later in the evening, 180 less fortunate comprising single mothers, orphans, the disabled as well as senior citizens from several villages around Gelang Patah were exclusively invited to a ‘Majlis Penyampaian Sumbangan Aidilfitri’ to receive their ‘duit raya’ and Raya goodies consist of rice, flour, sugar, milk, cooking oil and Hari Raya cookies to add merriment to thier Hari Raya celebration, as well as the porridge.

“Ramadhan is a month to spread care and affections all around us. UEM Land for instance has always cared for the local community’s welfare and this is made apparent through the various corporate responsibility programmes that we have planned and executed in this month and throughout the year,” said Dato’ Wan Abdullah Wan Ibrahim, Managing Director / Chief Executive Officer of UEM Land Holdings Berhad.

“Activities such as this are imperative to us in our efforts to help create a better living for the local communities and this is part of our way of giving back to the society. I am also grateful to see that Johor Media Club members are together with us to show the spirit of caring and sharing is still strong amongst us as we endeavour to bring smiles to the people.

We also hope this noble collaboration between UEM Land and Johor Media Club will be continuing,” he added.

Dato’ Wan Abdullah presented the Hari Raya goodies to the eligible community members with Johor Media Club President, Mohamad Fauzi Ishak was also present witnessing the ceremony.
