Similar to the Primary schools module, the recent Secondary module is the final module for secondary school teachers and the primary objective of this module is to explore and demonstrate teaching pronunciation, to overcome common errors and mistakes in English classes as well as teaching listening techniques that are relevant and applicable to be carried out in Malaysian English classroom to support the teachers’ role in improving the language proficiency of secondary students.
“The English program which was initiated in the UEM Land’s Corporate Responsibility programmes aimed to help teachers identify the gaps and improvements that are needed to improve their teaching techniques. Additionally, the program was also focused at empowering the teachers to enhance their pedagogic skills to enable them to train the students more effectively, hence elevate the standard of the English language in our PINTAR schools,” said Nik Surina Suria Nik Abdullah, Head of Corporate Communication for UEM Land Holdings Berhad.
Overall, the two-day training program conducted by British Council senior trainer, Ms. Heather Smeaton, has met its objectives and received overwhelming response from the teachers, who were very receptive to the new ideas, techniques and approaches shared in the class.
The 18 teachers who participated in this final module expressed their gratitude to UEM Land for its noble efforts and its unshakable commitment to help develop an English-literate generation in Nusajaya and engender an English-speaking environment in UEM Land’s PINTAR schools.
