UEM Land’s Spirit of Giving and Sharing Continues during Ramadhan

NUSAJAYA, Friday, September 3rd 2010: Ramadhan is a month of prayers, abstinence and forgiveness. It is also a time for giving.

For UEM Land Holdings Berhad, Ramadan is a month that unites all Muslims together to share the joy of the holy month and spread the culture of giving towards the needy.

As an annual tradition during Ramadhan, UEM Land shares the joy with the local community by organising a series of “Majlis Berbuka Puasa” events in several villages in Nusajaya. This year, UEM Land concluded the spirit of giving and sharing to the villagers at Kampung Sungai Melayu in Gelang Patah.

The “Majlis Berbuka Puasa”, which was held at Dewan Raya Kampung Sungai Melayu in Kg. Sungai Melayu today, was attended by more than 150 villagers from the surrounding areas. Joining them during the breaking of fast was UEM Land’ Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, YBhg. Dato’ Wan Abdullah Wan Ibrahim who later presented “Duit Raya” and Raya goodies to 76 less fortunate comprising single mothers, orphans, handicapped and senior citizens to help them ease their burden during the coming Hari Raya celebration.

“Ramadhan is a month when we should voluntarily give to others in need. UEM Land for instance has always cared for the local community’s welfare and this is made apparent through the various corporate social responsibility programmes that we have planned and executed throughout the year. UEM Land has been hosting these programmes since 2007 and we will continue our efforts in improving the lives of the

community around us. It is a joy to see the smile on the faces of those we helped, particularly those in need,” said Dato’ Wan Abdullah Wan Ibrahim.

Following the ‘Buka Puasa’ and Maghrib prayers, the villagers were then treated to a sumptuous dinner.
