UEM Sunrise Names Probuild As The Preferred Builder To Develop Its Landmark 92‐Storey Aurora Melbourne Central

KUALA LUMPUR, 16 March 2015 – UEM Sunrise Berhad (“UEM Sunrise” or the “Company”), a Malaysian property developer announces today Melbourne’s tier-one builder, Probuild Constructions Pty Ltd (“Probuild”), as the preferred builder for the company’s landmark 92-storey tower, Aurora Melbourne Central.

After several months of rigorous evaluations following a competitive tender process involving three shortlisted tier-one builders in Australia, the Company has ultimately determined that the tender submitted by Probuild as the most competitive in terms of technical and commercial merits.

UEM Sunrise’s Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Mr Anwar Syahrin Abdul Ajib, said, “For the next three months, there will be detailed contract negotiations with Probuild on design refinements, contract costs and contract details. We target to commence site works by June 2015.”

Probuild, the Australia-based construction company of the South Africa-listed Wilson Bayly Holmes-Ovcon Ltd (“WBHO”), has successfully completed numerous high-quality, high-rise residential towers in Melbourne. Group Managing Director Mr Simon Gray said: “We are delighted we have been chosen by UEM Sunrise to be its delivery partner for its flagship project, Aurora Melbourne Central. We are thrilled by the opportunity to hit the ground running on this truly iconic project.”

Located in the heart of the World’s Most Liveable City, the La Trobe Street mixed-use skyscraper, will consist of more than 120,000 square metres of built-up area and will include 941 residential apartments, approximately 250 serviced apartments, retail space and strata offices.

When the development was launched in October last year through an exclusive preview sales campaign, 95% of apartments were sold in just over two weeks. The appointment of the preferred builder marks another important milestone in the company’s maiden project in Australia.
