UEM SUNRISE Upgrades Private Road In Tapah, Perak

TAPAH, 8 October 2015 – UEM Sunrise Berhad (“UEM Sunrise” or the “Company”), one of Malaysia’s top property developers has completed the upgrading of a private road leading to Maahad Tahfiz Al Quran Wal Qiraat Addin Air Kuning in Tapah, Perak. The completion of the road upgrading initiative was formalised in a handing over ceremony between the two parties and witnessed by Air Kuning Assemblyman, YB Dato’ Haji Samsudin Abu Hasan, who is also the Perak EXCO Committee Chairman for Consumer Affairs, Entrepreneur and Cooperative Development and Civil Society (NGO).

The 186 meter stretch from the main road leading to the school, was initially laid on a sand surface making it a challenge for students and teachers to tread upon, especially during rainy days and monsoon season. Upon realising the challenges faced by the students and staff, UEM Sunrise took the necessary steps to upgrade the school facility from a sand stretch to a tarmac surface, enabling the students and teachers to walk and ride more comfortably to and from the school. Additionally, the school’s outdoor lobby and main gathering area at the porch was also paved with tarmac to give an uplift to the school compound.

Maahad Tahfiz Al Quran Wal Qiraat Addin Air Kuning, a school located at Kampung Baharu Air Kuning, Jalan Banir in Tapah, Perak, officially started operation in January 2015. Sitting on three acres of wakaf land by a local benefactor, the school was built to provide Islamic education that is guided by Al Quran and Sunnah. Presently, the school has a total of 52 male students with ages between 13 to 16 years old, supported by 12 teachers and staff. According to the school’s principle, Ustaz Abd. Muhaimin bin Malek, Maahad Tahfiz Al Quran Wal Qiraat Addin Air Kuning plans to offer a Diploma level of Al Quran studies with the co-operation of Darul Quran JAKIM in the near future.

UEM Sunrise’s Acting Chief Marketing Officer, En. Zadil Hanief Mohamad Zaidi who represented the Company during the handing over ceremony, said that the initiative was undertaken to create a more comfortable learning environment for the students; as well as a conducive teaching and working environment for the teachers and staff as they carry out their daily activities at the school.

“We are happy to see the outcome of our contribution that has helped to smoothen the path to and from the school for the students, teachers and staff here” said En. Zadil.

“Apart from the improved road condition, we hope that the students will make full use of the outdoor lobby area to carry out revisions or conduct group discussions that are productive and beneficial towards mastering the Al Quran and to excel in their studies. I also urge that all the students here will help maintain the school as it is the responsibility of all students to help keep the environment clean and safe,” Zadil advised.

The road upgrading initiative for Maahad Tahfiz Al Quran Wal Qiraat Addin Air Kuning was made possible by UEM Sunrise’s Community Development and Zakat Distribution programmes that are part of an overarching ambition of “Building Beyond Buildings”.
