UEM Sunrise Berhad (“UEM Sunrise” or “the Company”) the master developer of Nusajaya, one of the five key nodes of Iskandar Malaysia, has successfully concluded its 7th Pintar Al-Quran Programme with the ‘Khatam Al-Quran’ ceremony to mark the notable achievement of 151 pre-schoolers from its seven adopted KEMAS kindergartens around Gelang Patah, held at Wisma Johor Tourism Information Centre (“JOTIC”), Johor Bahru, today.
The Khatam Al-Quran ceremony was organised under the annual Pintar Al-Quran Programme introduced in 2008, aimed at educating the young children to become Al-Quran literate as well as to encourage them in adopting the Al-Quran fundamental values in their daily lives. To date, more than 1,800 pre-schoolers have benefited from this programme.
In 2015, 409 pre-schoolers enrolled under this programme and 151 children aged five and six years old successfully completed their Al-Quran recital classes. Whilst remaining 258 children are currently at various stages of completion of the programme.
The programme has proven to be effective through the adoption of innovative teaching methods as well as comprehensive curriculum supervised and closely-monitored by Johor Religious Department or ‘Majlis Agama Islam Negeri Johor’ (“MAINJ”).
“Pintar Al-Quran is part of the UEM Sunrise’s strategic initiative in order to achieve the vision as community builder with the adoption of Islamic values to the younger generation. As a responsible corporate citizen, UEM Sunrise is committed to build sustainable and holistic communities in Nusajaya,” said UEM Sunrise’s General Manager of Township and Infrastructure Planning Department, Encik Rusli bin Zainal Abidin.
“We believe that the Pintar Al-Quran programme in collaboration with MAINJ and ‘Jabatan Kemajuan Masyarakat’ (“KEMAS”) is significant and relevant as well as demonstrates a very noble effort in ensuring the continuous and sturdy growth of Islamic values and practices as these young children are important assets to the nation,” he added.
The ceremony was graced by Ustaz Abdul Jalil bin Khallil, Senior Assistant Director, Academic Management Unit of Johor Religious Department (“JAINJ”), who gave the opening speech. It was also attended by UEM Sunrise’s General Manager Township, Infrastructure and Planning Department, Encik Rusli bin Zainal Abidin, representatives of MAINJ and KEMAS as well as respective ustaz and ustazah of UEM Sunrise’s adopted KEMAS kindergartens.
