Nusajaya, 14 July 2010: More than 40 teachers from all the 17 UEM Land’s adopted schools under the PINTAR programme had fun while gaining valuable experience during a workshop conducted by the Star-NiE ((Newspaper-in-Education) today.
The workshop, sponsored and organized by UEM Land, complements the objective of the NiE programme which offers better appreciation and insights on the fresh techniques and new approaches in learning English in schools.
The STAR-NiE is an exclusive pull-out in the Star newspaper and distributed every Wednesday. It is aimed at inculcating reading habits amongst students and at the same time to improve their English proficiency.
During the half-day workshop, teachers were divided into groups of four to perform several exciting exercises designed to help the teachers explore new and innovative methods in teaching English using the newspapers. They were also given a chance to win and collect prizes through the group activities based on their creativity, competency, teamwork and swiftness.
In the convivial atmosphere, all the teachers were having a good time and the workshop was full of laughter and merriment when all teachers were cheering for their teammates. The teachers expressed their gratitude to UEM Land for organizing such a useful and exciting workshop.
