KUALA LUMPUR, 7 May 2013 – As part of its ongoing community engagement efforts, UEM Land Holdings Berhad (“UEM Land” or “the Company”) organised a Cherry Blossom Festival celebration with residents of properties managed by its wholly owned subsidiary, Sunrise Berhad (“Sunrise”) within the Dutamas and Mont’Kiara vicinity. The celebration was held at the Sunrise Fun Zone community centre last month on 20 April, well attended by approximately 400 individuals.
Representing UEM Land at the event was Encik Mohd Zafri bin Mohd Shariff, General Manager of Strategic Marketing Division.
“Over the years our developments particularly in Mont’Kiara have attracted more than 50 diverse nationalities of expatriates and world travellers thus events like this provide residents an opportunity to understand and experience other cultures better,” he said.
“For UEM Land, this is an excellent platform to promote an enhanced community living lifestyle and for us to build or improve camaraderie with our residents,” he continued.
The two hour event saw guests participating in activities including origami, booth games such as fun fishing and arm wrestling for kids as well as several stage performances including the Japanese Traditional Drum, Yosakoi So-Ran Dance, Korean K-Pop and Kids Rhythmic Gymnastics by JACPA. In addition, a cultural (Japanese & Korean) food presentation followed by a birthday cake cutting session with presents for children born in the month of April took place.
The Cherry Blossom Festival, also called Sakura Matsuri, is a spring festival which celebrates the natural beauty of cherry trees, along with Japanese food, culture, and history. Cherry Blossom Festivals are held all over the world including Japan and Korea as gestures of goodwill and friendship.
