Kuala Lumpur, 14 June 2013 – UEM Land Holdings Berhad (“UEM Land”) held a media briefing today where Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Dato‟ Wan Abdullah Wan Ibrahim unveiled UEM Sunrise Berhad (“UEM Sunrise”) as the new brand identity and company name replacing UEM Land.
UEM Sunrise leverages the combined heritage of UEM Land and its wholly-owned subsidiary Sunrise Berhad (“Sunrise”) that reflects a united entity driven by the singular vision of “Building Communities Of The Future, With You And For You”. An overarching ambition that goes beyond specific targets, this vision describes the future of UEM Sunrise, its aspirations for the future as well as the type of company UEM Sunrise represents.
“The vision that we have developed for UEM Sunrise reflects our ambitions and sets the tone for the company as a whole, permeating through our organisation and guiding our approach to expanding our business as well as our corporate social responsibility efforts,” Dato‟ Wan Abdullah commented.
The company builds upon the strengths of both UEM Land as a macro-township developer and Sunrise, specialising in luxurious condominiums and high-rise integrated projects, bringing together the talented, skilled, imaginative and courageous, to create sustainable environments that are loved by homeowners, acclaimed by investors and recognised by the industry.
Guided by the shared values of teamwork, integrity, passion for success, and sincerity of intent, UEM Sunrise is well placed to adapt and thrive in an evolving industry landscape.
“When UEM Land and Sunrise came together two years ago, each company had strengths in their own right but had very different cultures and DNA. Although a few options were potentially applicable, the company opted to consolidate the two brands to provide for unification in all factors including systems, processes, cultures and values, and to eliminate physical and emotional separation arising from the dual brands.
“As such, it was important that the integration exercise worked to leverage the combined heritage of the two companies and engaged all stakeholders, while working towards building a unified company with a singular vision,” explained Dato‟ Wan Abdullah.
The integration effort undertaken was a sizeable endeavour that included the alignment of the human capital, infrastructure, systems and processes of both companies, as well as the development of a new organisation chart. A concerted effort was also made to ensure that the company‟s over 1,200-strong workforce was engaged from the start and that their point of views were taken into account. Over a period of 14 months, interviews, focus groups and surveys were conducted, with all the information gathered playing a part in the development of the company‟s strategic plan and contributing to shaping the „DNA‟ of the refreshed entity.
The UEM Sunrise brand encapsulates both UEM Land and Sunrise heritage and expertise which reflect a stronger, refreshed and unified entity that aspires on delivering value to its shareholders, customers and employees by focusing on customer service, innovation and re-engineering.
“These changes are vital in securing the future of our company, allowing us to build communities of the future and create value for our shareholders, customers and employees. The benefits from our successful integration can already be seen through the economies of scale realised that have allowed for better terms for materials and services, as well as access to a larger pool of technical expertise.
“These in turn have allowed for better product pricing and construction efficiencies, positioning us well to increase our competitiveness and continue on our trajectory of growth,” said Dato‟ Wan Abdullah.
