There is a new hangout place in town, right in the heart of Kepong. In UEM Sunrise’s new flagship development of Kiara Bay, comes the latest Starbucks store that promises a coffee-culture experience that is unlike any other.

Situated within proximity to the Kepong Metropolitan Park, the glasshouse store can’t be missed – erected with large glass windows almost around all sides of its building, the glasshouse design is inspired by the greenhouse concept, which allows natural light to illuminate in, brightening up the whole store. Not only that, this concept also allows green plants to be placed within the store to give a greener feel. This also reduces electrical usage for lights, especially during the day. The newly opened Starbucks also has a drive-thru option to allow customers to get their beverages quickly without having to step into the store. How to make a cold brew coffee

Cold brew is a form of iced coffee where its coffee is infused with water and placed either in the fridge or a room temperature area for more than 16 hours. It is then filtered and seeped into another jar using a filter cup, offering a richer and smoother texture. Compared to regular coffee, cold brew tends to have a higher coffee-to-water ratio. Depending on the serving size made, you can store these in a tightly sealed mason jar in the fridge for up to two weeks, perfect for a quick pick-me-up drink any time of the day.

  1. Grind your coffee beans coarsely.
  2. Mix with water into a jar to start the infusion.
  3. Stir until the grounds are mixed. Let it infuse in the fridge or a room temperature area for at least 16 hours.
  4. Using a filter cup to reduce the excess grounds, slowly pour the infused brew into another jar.
  5. Add in water to taste, then serve with ice, milk, or as is.

There are many recipes and methods to make a variety of cold brews, it just depends on your preference and mood for the day. Want some sweetness in your cold brew? Add a dash of syrup or sweetener. Prefer a slightly different texture? Feel free to add in milk or creamer. Some recipes also include fruits to reduce the bitterness. You are after all the curator of your everyday cuppa joe.
